Description
This is a complete unit on Geography geared towards Middle School students graded 6 through 8. The unit begins by covering basics such as the continents and oceans, as well as and introduction to map tools.
Students will also be immersed in determining absolute location on a map by studying, individually, latitude than longitude. When students grasp the concept of both measures they will combine the two components of geography to find exact points on a map.
The lessons will dive deeper into geography by studying climate, climate regions, as well as physical features and the effects human have on their environment.
The Unit is 10 days long with a study guide and test. Each days lesson consists of a packet for students to use throughout the lesson. Their daily packet consists of a warm up (Do Now), Direct Instruction, Guided Practice, Independent Practice, an Exit Ticket (to measure mastery of the daily objective) and a daily homework assignment. There is a PPT to go along with each days lesson. The Study Guide and Unit Test spans the entire two week unit and will provide teachers with a firm grasp of how successful their students were in acquiring the necessary information.
All materials have the lesson objective on every page, which is measured in the final assessment (Exit Ticket), at the end of the period. The notes in this unit employ a strategy from Cornell Notes, guided notes, to highlight the most important aspects of the PPT which is highlighted for students.

Great resource to use when teaching geography. The slides were very useful and came with lots of subtopics within geography
I appreciate the way this material engages students. I am a bit lost without the map that is needed for the last test. I would love to include that activity, but the map is missing. Please respond or email me at iskye2004i@yahoo.com if you have that map. I would greatly appreciate it.
This was very helpful and a great resource! Thank you!
My 7th and 8th graders enjoyed these activities. The slide shows kept them interested with the sounds and the easy to read information. Thank you!
Thank you.
