Description

This packet is designed to build "mighty mathematicians"!
It contains centers that provided activities students can manipulate to build strategies and an understanding of the math concepts.
The center's activities are done in both color and black and white for you to choose. Along with the center activities and games there are practice pages for the students.
This packet focuses on Operations and Algebraic Thinking.
I CAN SOLVE ADDITION AND SUBTRACTION WORD PROBLEMS WITHIN 20. (Picking apples and turtles by the pond.)
3 practice pages accompany this focusing on the strategies...part to whole, base ten, pictures, using addition to solve subtraction, and connections within the equation.
I CAN SOLVE WORD PROBLEMS BY ADDING THREE NUMBERS WHOSE SUM IS LESS THAN OR EQUAL TO 20. (Let's fill our backpack with supplies.)
3 practice pages accompany this activity allowing the children to focus on strategies to support them.
I CAN COUNT UP AND BACK TO ADD AND SUBTRACT. (Frog jump, Rolling to 20)
This also includes 2 practice pages for the students.
I CAN FLUENTLY ADD AND SUBTRACT WITHIN 10. (Flash cards and suggestions as to games to play with them.)
This also includes 2 chants to support putting the facts to memory.
Ways to Make 10
Doubles
I CAN FIGURE OUT A MISSING NUMBER IN AN ADDITION OR SUBTRACTION EQUATION (What is missing using base 10 frames)
Visit this site to see specific examples and learn more about this product.
This packet is the perfect connection.
Enjoy!

Use addition and subtraction within 20 to solve word problems involving situations of adding to, taking from, putting together, taking apart, and comparing, with unknowns in all positions, e.g., by using objects, drawings, and equations with a symbol for the unknown number to represent the problem.
Solve word problems that call for addition of three whole numbers whose sum is less than or equal to 20, e.g., by using objects, drawings, and equations with a symbol for the unknown number to represent the problem.
Apply properties of operations as strategies to add and subtract. If 8 + 3 = 11 is known, then 3 + 8 = 11 is also known. (Commutative property of addition.) To add 2 + 6 + 4, the second two numbers can be added to make a ten, so 2 + 6 + 4 = 2 + 10 = 12. (Associative property of addition.)
