Description

- Create their own classification of what is a mineral or non-mineral through discussion and observation as they sort pictures. They record their findings on a recording sheet.
- Notes are given in a PowerPoint after students make up their own classification reasoning. Note page or flip book is provided for note taking that follows along with the PowerPoint. Key is provided for students who need it.
- Students go back and re-sort their cards as minerals or non-minerals based off notes they just recorded. They can modify or keep their findings on the original recording sheet.
- Another PowerPoint is provided as the key.
Combination of whole group/small group collaboration.

This was a great easy to understand powerpoint with excellent visuals that helped my students understand the definition of a mineral. I did have to make a Google doc for the students to type their notes on for virtual learning instead of the one provided so the students could submit their notes to me in Schoology.
