Description
If you are looking for a one stop shop for teaching "Understanding Missing Addends, Fact Family, Number Bonds, or Related Facts", you are at the right place! Although this math pack is compatible with I-ready math Unit 1 Lesson 4, it can completely stand alone without the I-Ready curriculum.
Includes:
*7 Teaching Posters: Vocabulary and lots of visuals (everything is step by step) with examples and review
*3 Engaging Activities and Games (Fact Family Puzzle, Alien Hop (Missing Addend Board Game), and Scoot Around the Room with Answer key)
*6 PDF Worksheets that can be uploaded digitally or quickly printed out.
The teaching posters are very in-depth and explains everything step by step using lots of visuals for better understanding. It includes math vocabulary, review skills and examples.
There are 3 engaging activities/games included. First, we have the "Fact Family Puzzle". Missing addends is a very hard skill to master for younger students. However, when they understand the concept of Fact Families or Related Facts, it makes solving missing addend problems easier. This is why I have incorporated an activity that can help students practice their Fact Family skills. Students will put together the Fact Family roof with the matching number sentences to create a fact family house. There is also a recording sheet students can use to check for understanding. I like to incorporate this in my small math groups. Next is my students' favorite, "Alien Hop". Essentially it is a boardgames similar to Candy Land but the students are having to solve missing addend problems along the way. In order to keep students accountable, I have also included a recording sheet for students to write down their equations with answers. Last is the "Scoot Around the Room". I always love to do a Scoot towards the end of teaching each lesson to check for understanding and encourage independence as well as movement. Students love "Scooting" around the room to answer task cards hanging around the room. The task cards have missing added problems as well as number bond questions. I hope your students enjoy using these activities!
Towards the end of this math pack, you will find 6 different worksheets that can be uploaded and used digitally or printed and handed out. I hope everything is easy to use, fun, and helpful. If you are interested in other math games, math worksheets, math packs, summer review pack, or digital phonics activities please visit my TPT STORE! I am continuously adding new material all the time as I personally use them in my own classroom. Thank you!
