All teachers know just how frustrating it can be when students don't turn in or don't complete their homework. So, you give them a zero and they come back and say "but I promise I turned this in!" but... they didn't.

With a simple paper, you can record their reasoning and have a paper trail. Including their reasoning in the grade book is also a great way for you to keep parents in the loop!
