This was the last product I bought for the year. It was something novel for the students that used a math skill I had taught previously.

It was my first experience with this kind of color by number. It's an amazing concept but didn't go very well the first couple times around due to a missing teacher page of instructions. We were using only the student directions which, while accurate, are not intuitive. After getting into contact with The Owl Teacher, she explained what is likely on that teacher instruction page and what my students and I had been doing wrong: It's color by the problem NUMBER, not problem ANSWER. Once we understood that, we were golden!

Hello Heidi, I’m very sorry to hear that you and your students were feeling frustrated and disappointed while using this resource. I work really hard to make sure that my resources are high quality and engaging. When I saw I had gotten a 1 I immediately checked this resource out (I’ve never gotten a 1 before). Everything in it is correct. I think what has happened is that when you and your students solved the problems, say 40/5=8, you went and colored the number 8 the color it said in the box. But, you’re supposed to color all the 1’s the color for the answer of number 1. You color all the 2’s the color for the answer of number 2. You color all the 3’s the color for the answer of number 3. (And so on…). This was really important when I was doing the fraction sets and so on. I did this to keep it consistent among all the sets. I’m sorry that my instructions did not explain that more clearly. I will go in and explain that better not in the teacher’s page and the directions on each page. If you’ll go back in and look at it now knowing this, I think you’ll see that I was in no way trying to frustrate you or your students and that the resource is accurate. Again, I’m VERY sorry and completely understand your frustration. If you want to email me (tammy@theowlteacher.com) I’ll make it up to you! Enjoy your day. Tammy
