Description

Converting improper fractions to mixed numbers and mixed numbers to improper fractions is the focus of this self-checking, digital Truth or Dare math game. This game provides an engaging, easy way to review concepts, as a whole class, in small groups, or independently.

Playing the game:

The game begins with a Truth grid and Dare grid that allow students to select questions and self-check answers as they navigate through 36 question cards and 36 answer cards in Google Slides.

  • If you aren't using Google in your classroom but can access the Google link, you can download as a PPT and use in the same way.

Students can choose to answer a "truth," which is a true or false question that addresses:

  • vocabulary
  • basic improper fraction & mixed number concepts

OR a "dare," which would be a more challenging question having students:

  • compare mixed numbers and improper fractions (includes word problems)
  • convert from mixed numbers to improper fractions
  • convert from improper fractions to mixed numbers

Check out the demo above! It shows how students use the game if they play in Edit Mode.

To see the game in Present Mode, head here.

Game questions require students to:

  • Identify meanings of vocabulary terms
  • Compare mixed numbers and improper fractions
  • Convert from mixed numbers to improper fractions
  • Convert from improper fractions to mixed number
  • Solve word problems

The resource you download is a PDF that includes:
