I created this activity and these worksheets to help my kids learn and become fluent in breaking down a word problem and finding out: What is being asked? What operation will need to be used to solve it? What words/phrases help to figure out the operation needed to solve it?
I think this will also help them prepare for and understand the "wording" used in many standardized tests :).

Mixed Word Problems Activity - There are 28 cards which you can print out alone, or front to back with the "work space" I've included for each word problem card. These can be printed for the kids to write on them directly or to laminate and use as sets over and over again. The file is in color and b&w :).
Mixed Word Problems Worksheets - This file has 48 word problems with space for the kids to show their work.

The word problems cover: two and three-digit addition and subtraction, multiplication (or repeated addition), and division (or making/finding equal groups from a total and if there are any left over).
