A multi-step word problem requires students to solve a portion, and then use the answer to solve another equation within the problem. Students will learn strategies to navigate and solve such problems. A bar model is a tool that can help students decide what operations to use when solving. A KWPL chart can help students organize information from the problem.

What strategies can we use to solve multi-step word problems?
