Description
This modified version of French Ruled paper is approximately 4mm tall and 12mm wide.
While working with dysgraphic children, I realized that children with this specific learning difference had a hard time writing on standard American ruled paper. I searched for alternative options and had great success with French/Seyes Ruled paper with older students. Unfortunately, my younger students were struggling to write in the small lines of the traditional French ruled paper. Using this modified version has been a huge success for my younger students.
To use this paper:
- Writing occurs in blocks of 4 vertically and 2 letters per block (to begin with) horizontally. I have modified my instruction from the traditional method so that my students can develop better spacial awareness and not become too confused when writing drop down letters.
- Begin on the forth line down from the top for cursive letters starting on the bottom line.
- Only write up to the third line for tall letters and the first line from the bottom lower case letters.
- Cross and dot letters on the third line up for beginner writers. As writing skills and fine motors skills progress, you may move crossing and dotting to the middle of the first and second lines.
- Drop down letters drop down below the bottom line to the top line of the first section.
Please see the video for a demonstration.
