Description

This resource can be used for a review lesson or as a great way to integrate math and art if you are needing a change. This is helpful for students who are visual learners who use base 10 manipulatives too. This integrated lesson is suitable for students who have learned or are learning about decimals, fractions, area, and perimeter. I used this to augment a large unit with the above concepts and to end our study with something out of the ordinary- art!

This resource includes:

  • An artist biography
  • An artwork page of the artist’s work
  • A math worksheet
  • 2 Teacher Keys
  • A grid sheet for the project
  • 2 gridded artwork pages for calculating
  • 2 classroom pages of artwork 8.5 x 11
  • Full instructions with photos of student work

I am so grateful for your support. Your purchase encourages me as a teacher and an artist, thank you, your purchase means the world to me!

Apply the area and perimeter formulas for rectangles in real world and mathematical problems. For example, find the width of a rectangular room given the area of the flooring and the length, by viewing the area formula as a multiplication equation with an unknown factor.
Recognize angles as geometric shapes that are formed wherever two rays share a common endpoint, and understand concepts of angle measurement:
Decompose a fraction into a sum of fractions with the same denominator in more than one way, recording each decomposition by an equation. Justify decompositions, e.g., by using a visual fraction model. Examples: 3/8 = 1/8 + 1/8 + 1/8; 3/8 = 1/8 + 2/8; 2 1/8 = 1 + 1 + 1/8 = 8/8 + 8/8 + 1/8.
