Money Word Problems $: One & Two Step Addition/ Subtraction with Whole Dollars

Students will practice adding and subtracting money, in this fun, fast food themed deck.

Includes both one-step and two-step word problems.

All word problems can be solved with addition and/ or subtraction (students may use simple multiplication or division skills on some cards, but those skills are not required).

All cards include only whole dollars within $50.


Boom Cards™ Task Cards Format - This digital resource is interactive using the Boom Learning℠ platform. Students select their answers and get real-time feedback about whether their answers are correct.

Self Grading Activity - Boom Cards allow for instant feedback to the student and teacher. Teachers can create individual students accounts and student responses will be shared with the teacher through a simple report.

How to Use Boom Cards - To use Boom Cards, you must be connected to the Internet. Boom Cards play on modern browsers (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and Edge). Apps are available for modern Android, iPads, iPhones, and Kindle Fires. For security and privacy, adults must have a Boom Learning account to use and assign Boom Cards. You will be able to assign the Boom Cards you are buying with "Fast Pins," (a form of play that gives instant feedback to students for self-grading Boom Cards). For assignment options that report student progress back to you, you will need to purchase a premium account. If you are new to Boom Learning, you will be offered a free trial of our premium account. Solve word problems involving dollar bills, quarters, dimes, nickels, and pennies, using $ and ¢ symbols appropriately. Example: If you have 2 dimes and 3 pennies, how many cents do you have?
Use the four operations to solve word problems involving distances, intervals of time, liquid volumes, masses of objects, and money, including problems involving simple fractions or decimals, and problems that require expressing measurements given in a larger unit in terms of a smaller unit. Represent measurement quantities using diagrams such as number line diagrams that feature a measurement scale.
Solve two-step word problems using the four operations. Represent these problems using equations with a letter standing for the unknown quantity. Assess the reasonableness of answers using mental computation and estimation strategies including rounding.
