When it comes time to help your students learn the names of their numbers
and that each number represents a certain quantity, these Montessori Inspired Number Rods & Cards will become a highly effective tool in their learning.
Your students will learn how to sequence number quantities (number rods) by learning how to build number stairs of different varieties.
They will also learn that each number quantity gets represented by a corresponding numeral. In this case any of the numerals from 1-10.
As your students gain experience they will be able to visually sense what the name of each number rod is without counting it. This process is known as subitizing.
Your students will also learn the fundamentals of addition and subtraction, by adding or removing number rods & cards from a constructed number stair.
A teaching guide with these methods, as well as, photo demonstration cards for you or your students are included as a template for the above practices.
THERE ARE 10 STEPS IN THE TEACHER GUIDE, NOT INCLUDING THE MANY SUBSECTIONS UNDER EACH STEP. EACH METHOD COULD EASILY BE DIVIDED INTO SEVERAL LESSONS. IF YOUR STUDENTS ARE JUST BEGINNING TO LEARN NUMBERS THEN THESE METHODS COULD EASILY BE DIVIDED INTO 30+ LESSONS!
When your practices or lessons are complete simply place your number rods and cards into their included storage boxes and store away! No more ugly sandwich baggies needed to store the small things!
