Visuals to support PBIS!
As we all know the first six weeks of school are crucial. At the beginning of the year, we spend all our time introducing routines and procedures.
When we focus on routines and procedures, we are providing students with a consistent structure and setting clear expectations.
This helps avoid confusion, decreases classroom interruption and discipline problems, increases task time and provides teacher satisfaction.
In order to support our students (especially our youngest students, our second language learners and our special education students), it is helpful to provide visual reminders of what our routines and procedures are so that students can learn how to become responsible and independent.
That’s why I created these task cards.
This set includes 22 full size task cards as well as definition cards for the word routine and procedures. In addition, I've included smaller visuals that can be used for labeling the classroom or providing individual students more support.
The task cards read…
-Greet your teacher(s) and classmates.
-Sign in please.
-Place your name card on the attendance board.
-Put your chair on the floor quietly.
-Put important papers and letters in your teacher’s mailbox.
-Put your snack and lunch away.
-Make a lunch choice quickly.
-Pass in your homework.
-Put your homework folder in the tray or basket.
-Return your reading book(s).
-Put your backpack, coat and other belongings away.
-Eat your breakfast. Clean up afterward.
-Wash and dry your hands.
-Use the bathroom.
-Begin your morning work quietly.
-Begin your morning tubs quietly.
-Sharpen your pencil quickly.
-Get a sharpened pencil quickly.
-Read with a partner quietly.
-Make a quiet choice.
-Wait quietly on the rug.
Hope you and your students find these task card reminders useful. Have a wonderful school year.
