Connect to a Read Aloud: Mr. Ferris and His Wheel

This STEM Project is a companion activity to Mr. Ferris and His Wheel by Kathryn Davis. The book explores the 1893 Chicago World's Fair and how Ferris built his first wheel.

Take students through the STEM Process!

Students design, build, and test their own Ferris Wheel! After they have completed their activity, there is time for reflection on what worked and what didn't.

Integrate Writing!

As an extension to the STEM Challenge, students write a persuasive letter to the World's Fair to persuade them to use their idea.
