Share

Description

Practice area model multiplication with partner coaching - just print and go! This strategy gives structure to partner work, allowing students to effectively work together to solve the problems.

I use partner coaching in my classroom all the time. Students who are confident in the material take the next step as they are now teaching the content. Students who are struggling get the content reinforced through the extra practice.

Included:

  • 3 Levels of Worksheets: 2 Digit x 2 Digit, 3 Digit x 2 Digit, and 3 Digit x 3 Digit
  • Blank Version of Worksheets
  • Scaffolded Version (boxes already drawn)
  • Answer Keys

Directions:

  1. Fold the page in half vertically. Look at Partner A’s side.
  2. Partner A solves #1, talking through their process. Partner B will watch, coach, and help.
  3. Once Partner A does #1, flip the paper and Partner B will solve #1 as Partner A coaches.
  4. Continue going back and forth until all the problems are solved.

Printing Recommendations

  • When printing, set the scale to "fit to printable area" to ensure edges aren't cut off by the printer.

Please leave a review, I would love to know how you use this in the classroom.

This Partner Coach Practice Worksheet for multi-digit multiplication using area models is a fantastic resource for building both math skills and collaborative learning! The structured activities are designed to help students break down complex multiplication problems into manageable steps, making it an excellent tool for introducing or reinforcing the area model strategy. What makes this worksheet unique is the partner coaching element, which encourages peer teaching and teamwork. Students take turns solving problems and providing feedback, fostering both a deeper understanding of the material and critical communication skills. This collaborative approach makes math feel less intimidating and more engaging. The worksheet is well-organized, with clear instructions and enough space for students to show their work. The design ensures focus on the process, not just the final answer. It's versatile and can be used in a variety of settings, including centers, guided math groups, or independent practice. Overall, this is a high-quality resource that not only strengthens multiplication skills but also promotes meaningful interaction among students. A must-have for any classroom working on multi-digit multiplication! ?????
