This 5th grade Monster Science Lab math escape room is a fun and effective way to practice multi-digit multiplication! Students will multiply multi-digit whole numbers, analyze multiplication mistakes, and solve multiplication word problems as they assemble their team of monsters. Custom videos guide the story along the way, making this printable and digital activity an engaging, immersive escape room experience.

“We must make the perfect team of monsters. Can you join us in the science lab to help make sure our creations pass all our tests?”

🧪 Students will enter the Monster Science Lab, where they complete four engaging challenges as they create and test their monsters. Each challenge includes multi-digit multiplication problems, error analysis questions, or real-world word problems that students must solve to unlock secret codes and move forward. Custom videos introduce the story and set the stage for each challenge, bringing the monster science theme to life.

This activity is aligned to CCSS 5.NBT.B.5. It can be used in any classroom to practice the following math skills:

✅ Multiplying multi-digit whole numbers using the standard algorithm

✅ Multiplying up to four-digit numbers by two-digit numbers

✅ Using place value and regrouping to solve multiplication problems

✅ Finding and analyzing mistakes in multi-digit multiplication problems
