Description

Get your students excited about multi-digit multiplication with these head to head interactive math games!

Collect the Coins is an engaging and interactive self-checking math game that challenges students to solve 2 by 2, 2 by 1, 3 by 1 and 4 by 1 multi-digit multiplication problems in order to collect the most coins and emerge victorious.

In this game, students play against another student in a competition to see who can answer the most questions correctly and gather the most coins from the prize boxes. As students answer the questions, their score is automatically calculated. If a student answers a question correctly, they collect the coins. If they answer incorrectly, an "X" appears next to the question and the player loses a turn. The second player then gets a chance to answer that question.

To play against each other, two students share the same Google Sheet™ and take turns answering the questions in any order they prefer. After solving the problem on a whiteboard, scratch paper, or the provided workspace, students type their final answer into the answer cell.

The game continues until time is up or all questions have been completed correctly. The player with the most coins at the end of the game is declared the winner and their score is indicated by the star icon next to it.

Both students and teachers can enjoy this activity without any prior knowledge of Google Sheets™, but it is important to give each student their own copy of the resource to avoid accidentally editing the teacher's copy.
