Engage your students with multi digit subtraction fun- JENGA STYLE! Join the craze! Paint the ends of your jenga sets and turn them into an awesome math game. This set focuses on subtracting multi-digit numbers using the standard algorithm (place value strategies). CCSS Aligned - I Can statements on every page!
Each activity sheet includes a sidebar of relevant notes on the concept being taught. Then there is a section of problems for each color jenga block.
*Subtract the two digit numbers by using the standard algorithm. Regroup if needed.*
*Subtract the 2 digit number from the 3 digit number by using the standard algorithm. Regroup if needed.*
*Subtract the 3 digit number from the 3 digit number by using the standard algorithm. Regroup if needed.*
*Subtract the 3 digit number from the 4 digit number by using the standard algorithm. Regroup if needed.*
*Subtract the 4 digit numbers by using the standard algorithm. Regroup if needed.*

-student work page (2 sides): includes relevant math notes/vocabulary, problem sets, directions, and I can sentences.
-student work page with fill in the blank color spaces (in case your jenga set has different colors!)

Directions
Students will play game in groups of 3-5
1.Player “A” decides which colored block they would like to remove from the jenga tower.
2. The player will find the section on the paper that has the same color listed as the block chosen. Player “A” must complete the next available question in that section. As the player solves the problem, they need to verbally say the steps they are taking out loud.
3. If everyone in the group agrees with the answer, Player “A” will go check that their answer is correct (either with a teacher or the answer key).
4. If the answer is correct, Player “A” will remove the block from the jenga tower and the game will continue with the next player’s turn. If the answer is incorrect, Player “A” must erase their work and the next player will start their turn.
If the tower falls players can rebuild and continue the game.
If the players run out of questions for a specific color, they can choose to only pick available colors.
