Multiplication ~ Multiplication: Making Groups of... Multiplication Practice Activity - PDF file

Covers 2 to 12 times tables.
Making groups is an easy way for younger students to understand multiplication concepts.
This activity can be used in a few different ways. Children can make groups using the jars and the cards e.g. when practising 6 times tables; students will use the jar cards that says, 6 groups then all the cards that have, 6 groups of 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12 and then the answer cards e.g. =6, =12, =18, =24 etc.. They must make the groups and place the cards next to their group.
I have also found that my students love organizing the answers in order e.g. for the sixes, 6, 12, 18, 24, 30, 36, 42, 48, 54, 60, 66 and 72. We then did this with the timer and they recorded their score. I would ask them how many turns they would like and most say 5-7. You can decide based on time though. A variation could be that they display the other cards as well, e.g. 6 groups of 7 and = 42 card.
