This multiplication area models center is great for building the understanding of area models in just a few days. Each of the 4 activities is just slightly different and leveled in ascending order. The first activity simply gets students used to reading the number of squares in each row and column. The next activity builds on that to turn what they see into a multiplication fact. The third activity has them look at the fact and build the matching area model and the fourth activity has them choose their own fact and their own model to match! It is leveled so smoothly your students won't even realize how much they have just learned!

The simple recording sheet will also hold your students accountable for doing work and showing their understanding!
