Multiplication Area Models Task Cards {2 by 2 Digit}
Share

Description

Are you looking for a visual way to teach 2 digit by 2 digit multiplication? Check out these area model multiplication task cards! Also called the box method or the window method, students will practice multiplying the expanded form of the 2 digit numbers before adding the products. They do not need to draw the models; that is already done for them. They simply use the arrows as a guide to write the equations. Detailed directions at the bottom of each card help guide your learners who need the scaffold. Update: Teachers Pay Teachers has included a digital overlay. This means you can upload it directly to your Google Classroom from this site. Students can type answers in the provided text boxes.

My students were extremely confused by the the arrows. I appreciate all of the work that went into it. The Task Cards were beautiful and colorful. It was perhaps too descript. Others may find it useful, I was not able to implement it into instruction with my students. I look forward to other resources that may better suit the needs of my students.
