Description

Arrays give students a visual representation of multiplication and help students see the value of multiplication in the real world! This hands-on activity and lesson will have kids use pipe cleaners and beads to construct arrays!

What's Included?

This product is lesson on using arrays in multiplication. It comes with a link to a Google Slides Presentation, a companion worksheet for the lesson, three additional practice worksheets, and the answer keys. You will need to provide students with pipe cleaners and beads that fit on them easily.

Google Slides Presentation

The Google Slides presentation link is located in a PowerPoint file titled ”Google Slides Links.” Open the file and read the directions to access the links. Notice that the PowerPoint must be put into presentation mode for the links to work. There is one link. The presentation has a total of 34 slides.

Companion Worksheet

This worksheet is for each student to fill out while learning with the Google Slides presentation. It has five practice questions, with four steps each. I recommend looking over this page before the lesson to familiarize yourself with the expectations your students will be given. The presentation guides students step by step. This also gives you a chance to check students’ understanding as you teach. They will need the beads and pipe cleaners as they complete this as it is a hands-on activity/ lesson. There is no answer key for this portion.

Worksheets

The three extra worksheets are for independent practice. You can assign these in a way that best fits your students’ individual needs. Some ideas include a homework packet, small group work, or an assessment. Answer keys are included.

Who is this product for?

This is perfect for any teacher introducing multiplication! It is not grade-specific, but based on the skill would most likely fit third grade best.
