These Speed Tests are designed to practice fluency. While fluency is no longer a "standard", fluency (speed with accuracy) will definitely help students be more successful in higher math courses.

Each of the Speed Tests include 5 different tests for each. Students can exchange papers to correct or self-correct their tests.

Ideally students would be able to complete each test within 1 minute with only 0-1 wrong answer. Once a student has consistently passed the test 2-3 times, then it is time for them to move up to the next level.

Students can move through the levels at their own pace. If they need more time to do a level, it’s OK to cycle through the 5 tests more than once.

Students can work on multiple levels at once. For example, if they already know their 2s times tables with accuracy, then they can work on the 2s for speed and also the 3s for accuracy at the same time.
