Multiplication Comparing Cards

Do your students get enough practice with basic facts? Having the ability to use number sense or apply a rule or strategy requires practice. This is the way fluency is achieved. You will find many opportunities for you and your students to share strategies and math thinking through using these cards.

Students explain which fact they predict to be the greatest. Ask students how they could compare the expressions if they did not know the answers to the facts shown. After the prediction, they determine the correct product by applying a strategy or recalling from memory and use the correct vocabulary or symbols to correctly compare the products.
