✖️➗ Multiplication & Division Fact Families Solve & Draw | Creative Math Practice

Make fact family practice engaging and creative with this Solve & Draw multiplication and division activity! Unlike a traditional color‑by‑number, students add details to a drawing based on math prompts, allowing for personalization and creativity while still reinforcing essential math skills.
This no‑prep, print‑and‑go resource helps students strengthen their understanding of multiplication and division fact families through active problem solving paired with purposeful drawing prompts.

Perfect for math centers, review, early finishers, sub plans, homework, or informal assessment.

✏️ How the Solve & Draw Activity Works

Students solve multiplication and division fact family problems, then follow specific drawing prompts tied to their answers. Instead of simply coloring sections, students add elements to the picture, such as objects, characters, or details—making each final drawing unique.
Because students are guided on what to draw (but not how to draw it), this activity:

  • Encourages creativity
  • Works for all drawing ability levels
  • Is more engaging than traditional color‑by‑number worksheets

Students can draw using pencil or pen, making this a low‑supply, accessible activity. Optional coloring materials can be used but are not required.

I tried this with my class and it though it would be a hit. The activities were great in theory, however, my class did not find the drawing opportunities engaging enough. I would recommend this for more of grade 2-4 and less on the 5-6 range.

My students loved using this for morning work and getting to color when they were done. My students needed a lot of fact fluency practice and they were no longer finding online games engaging.
