Description

Building fluency with multiplication and division requires regular practice ideally with a variety of differentiated material so that you can set the appropriate level of work and have lots of material to practice throughout the year.

Most curricula around the world require that students know from memory all the products of two 1-digit numbers by around the 3rd grade and this is the ideal resource to help this along as it also includes division and an extra level to challenge those students who are ready.

Here you have 3 sets of resources with an abundance of differentiated, no-prep, no frills  material for your students to practice all year round if needed.

1. Right or Wrong Quizzes

Each worksheet has a mix of 20 statements.  Your students have to decide whether a statement is right or wrong, and if wrong, put in the right answer.

There are 3 Sets of worksheets to choose from:

  • 20 questions on multiplication
  • 20 questions on division
  • 20 question on a mix of multiplication and division

There are 3 levels for each set

  • up to 7 x 7
  • up to 10 x 10
  • up to 144 - up to 12 x 12

2. Number Squares

Every worksheet has 4 squares. You can choose to create all four at one level, or set up a mix of levels. Whichever you choose, you have the opportunity to create a new worksheet either at the same level as before if needed, or take it up a level for 1,2,3 or 4 of the squares which includes a challenge level for both multiplication and division taking the questions to just over 100.

Multiplication - 4 levels

  • up to 5 x 5
  • up to 5 x 10
  • up to 10 x 10
  • Challenge - up to 12 x 12

Division - 3 levels

  • divisors: 2 to 8, quotient to 48
  • divisors: 5 to 10, quotient to 90
  • Challenge - divisors: 6 to 12, quotient to 132

Find the missing number

Every worksheet has 20 (multiplication or division statements) simple equations with one element missing.
There are 5 Sets of worksheets to choose from:

  • Multiplication
  • Division
  • A mix of multiplication and division
  • Multiplication with the questions paired showing its commutative property.
  • A mix of multiplication and division with questions paired to show the link between multiplication and division

For each set you can choose from 5 ranges of numbers

  • Up to 50
  • Up to 100 - Level 1 - products (multiplication) and dividends (division) spread out from 9 to 100
  • Up to 100 - Level 2 - mainly larger products and dividends to 100
  • Up to 144 - Level 1 - products and dividends between spread out from 9 to 144
  • Up to 144 - Level 2 - mainly larger products and dividends to 144

4. Practice Multiplication and Division - 3rd Grade - Multiple Choice

Each worksheet has 20 questions.  Your students are given a choice of 4 possible answers and have to choose one of them.

There are 3 Sets of worksheets to choose from:

  • multiplication
  • division
  • a mix of multiplication and division

For each of the above you can select questions with the following ranges of numbers

  • Up to  50
  • Up to 100 - Levels 1 & 2*
  • Up to 144 - Levels 1 & 2*

* Levels 1 has a spread of questions with low and high numbers, whilst at Level 2 the numbers tend to be higher

This  will give you the opportunity to differentiate from the very start, or setting the level of work for the whole class or individual students as needed.

5. BONUS FILE - 'Multiplying within 100' Maze
A fun end of lesson activity to engage the students, finding their way through a maze of multiplication questions

How many worksheets are there in total?
Almost Unlimited. For all of the above, at the click of a button all numbers are randomized, so you can create as many different worksheets as you need for classwork, homework, preparing for assessment, end of lesson filler, lots more practice, etc to ensure a high level of fluency with multiplication and division at this level.

No-Prep Worksheets

These are simple no-prep worksheets that require no extra work. Simply CLICK-PRINT AND GO. This makes them ideal to have printed and ready for a replacement teacher if needed.

Determine the unknown whole number in a multiplication or division equation relating three whole numbers. For example, determine the unknown number that makes the equation true in each of the equations 8 × ? = 48, 5 = __ ÷ 3, 6 × 6 = ?.
Apply properties of operations as strategies to multiply and divide. Examples: If 6 × 4 = 24 is known, then 4 × 6 = 24 is also known. (Commutative property of multiplication.) 3 × 5 × 2 can be found by 3 × 5 = 15, then 15 × 2 = 30, or by 5 × 2 = 10, then 3 × 10 = 30. (Associative property of multiplication.) Knowing that 8 × 5 = 40 and 8 × 2 = 16, one can find 8 × 7 as 8 × (5 + 2) = (8 × 5) + (8 × 2) = 40 + 16 = 56. (Distributive property.)
Understand division as an unknown-factor problem. For example, find 32 ÷ 8 by finding the number that makes 32 when multiplied by 8.
