Multiplication Escape Room | Double-Digit Word Problems Breakout Activity
Share

Description

Make multiplication practice exciting with this interactive escape room challenge! Students will solve double-digit multiplication word problems to unlock clues, crack codes, and complete the breakout. Perfect for upper elementary math review, this engaging activity builds problem-solving skills while reinforcing key multiplication concepts.

DIRECTIONS:

First, print out one puzzle picture for each team and cut it into pieces. Hang the multiplication cards around the room (like task cards). Each time a team solves one, they must bring it to you to get checked. If it is correct, hand them one puzzle piece. Once they have collected all of the puzzle pieces, they must put the puzzle together to win! Optional: Print the graphics at the end of this document to hang around your room to set the mood!

SET THE SCENE:

"Detectives, we have an urgent case on our hands! Late last night, someone broke into the town museum and stole the legendary Golden Compass Treasure Map—the only map that reveals the location of a hidden pirate treasure buried hundreds of years ago. The curator found a note at the scene. It reads: ‘If you wish to find the map, Solve these puzzles, and mind the trap!’ It seems the thief is testing us. They’ve scattered clues all over the area, but each one is locked behind a multiplication puzzle. We need your math skills, sharp thinking, and teamwork to solve this mystery and recover the treasure map before the thief gets away with the loot! Detectives, your mission starts now. The first clue is waiting at the Shipyard. Good luck—you’re going to need it!"
