Multiplication Interactive Notebook
Share

Description

This interactive notebook is designed to help you teach or reinforce multiplying whole numbers with a traditional algorithm. I believe that part of the interactive notebook success is that it gives students the opportunity to create their own resources in a fun and meaningful way. Each interactive notebook set that I create includes a visual cue for the students to create, as well as engaging ways to practice the skill.

This product includes:

  • Visual Support: I believe that our students need visuals to help the remember and mentally reference material at a later date. Although visuals often require a little more of a time commitment, it is something you and your students can reference over and over again. For this skill, your students will create a house with four windows and a door. The door is placed in the tens place on the ground floor. This serves as a symbol to add a zero place holder, because that number is DIFFERENT!
  • Matching Activity: Part of the interactive notebook magic is that our students are actively engaged and participating in their learning. By having them do simple cutting and pasting, you are allowing them to interact with the skill and practice by solving multiplication problems and matching the answer. If the answer isn't there, check your work! Maybe there's a simple mistake.
  • Highlighter Activity: I mean, all kids love highlighters, right? Instant engagement! This page is simple, doesn't require much cutting, and the kids use a HIGHLIGHTER! Easy win! In this highlighter activity, your students will solve multiplication problems and make a highlighter zero!
  • Explain it! Journal Prompt: I like to have my students explain their thinking and learning after they've had plenty of opportunities to practice. This is perfect for higher level students and preparing for standardized testing.

All pages are sized to fit composition books, but will also work well with standard notebooks.

My students absolutely LOVED this! I did change mine up a little by placing the door in the ones place at the bottom because my students kept asking how to open the windows if they're outside. They loved the flaps though!
