Description

The Common Core State Standards specify that students should be able to FLUENTLY multiply and divide within 100, using a number of strategies. In addition, the standards state that by the end of Grade 3, students should know from memory, all products of two one-digit numbers. Students who are able to master the multiplication facts have a more positive attitude about their mathematical abilities and their future mathematics experiences. Just ask any teacher of the upper grades! The Multiplication Math Fact Discovery Sheets provide a place for students to explore each multiplication fact and enables students to move closer to multiplication math fact mastery.

→Students use a blank hundreds chart to skip count to 100 for a given fact set.

→Questions are provided that help students better understand the patterns they

are noticing.

→Students write all of the multiples of the 2s to 20 (or 3s to 30, etc.).

→Students are also introduced to a hint or strategy to help them quickly solve whatever fact set they are working on.

I made booklets for my students to practice with and for my students to refer to when they felt 'stuck' as they were working. They liked having them and as they used them, found that slowly they didn't need to refer to them as often!
