Details:

  • Students will answer 28 questions about multiplying 2-digit numbers by other 2-digit numbers. Problems 1-8 do not involve carrying. The rest of the problems involve carrying.
  • The multiplication problems are written vertically and horizontally throughout the sort, so students will recognize that the format of the problem does not make a difference—both versions mean the same thing.
  • Self-checking: every four problems students will check their work to see if they are doing the problems correctly. This is a key component of this scoot that actively prevents misconceptions and misunderstandings.
  • After students check their work, they will do one exercise movement or stretch. For example, 20 jumping jacks or touching their toes for 30 seconds. Each movement slide has a picture showing students exactly what to do.
  • At the end of the scoot, students will answer three simple reflection questions about their level of understanding and on-task behavior during this assignment.
  • This scoot can be used in a pencil & paper format for in-person learning or in a digital format for remote learning and/or in-person learning. This activity is very versatile! Specifics are provided in the teacher information pages of this product.
  • This scoot can be used in a pencil & paper format for in-person learning or in a digital format for distance learning and/or in-person learning.
  • If you are tired of doing traditional, "old-fashioned" scoots that involve excessive printing, spreading random papers around your classroom, and almost always result in off-task behavior, then use this product to avoid THAT mess! Save your time & energy by using this fresh, new digital scoot! In my own classroom, I have my students access the scoot digitally by posting it online. Even though my students are in-person, I have them access the scoot digitally to save time, paper, and the mess of a traditional scoot!

This multiplication scoot helped me to review 2-digit x 2-digit multiplication with my fifth graders. I really loved the interactive nature of this scoot versus the old fashioned “print-and-go” type of scoot. Posting this scoot digitally worked very well for my students and I loved it! 5 stars!
