Description

This multiplication sort asks students, "Set models or Not?" and comes with a cool recording page that pushes understanding of the concept of the multiplication.

There are 50 cards that sort under the heading of Multiplication Set Model or NOT Multiplication Set Model. You can pair that down if 50 is too much.

Students complete the sort, then on their recording sheet they choose 10 of the cards on the Set Model side to write a repeated addition and multiplication fact for, and solve.

Then they will choose 4 problems from the not set model side and draw a simple set model that shows the problems with the model being fixed so that it now does represent a multiplication problem.

A fun and simple sort that is still very important in developing basic understanding of what multiplication is. The recording sheet helps hold students accountable for work at independent math centers.

This linked up perfectly with the activity we were working on. The students were a lot more engaged and understood it more. Thank you!
