Description

📌Support student understanding of multiplication with these printable multiplication strategy anchor chart posters. This resource focuses on the standard algorithm and the area model, helping students visualize and compare strategies for solving multiplication problems.

Designed for 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade math, these anchor charts are perfect for whole-group instruction, small-group intervention, and year-long classroom reference.

📌These printable posters are educational tools designed to help students effectively solve 2-3 digit multiplication problems using both the area model and standard algorithm methods. The posters feature a clear and concise layout, with separate entire pages for each method.

📌These examples show step-by-step how to solve the problem with each method.

  • For Area Model, included is a visualization of how to break down the problem into smaller parts, and represent the multiplication using a grid. This method is helpful for visual learners or those who may struggle with the standard algorithm.
  • For Standard Algorithm, provided is a a visual reminder of how the numbers are lined up by place value and how to carry over, and regroup digits as needed. This method is useful for those who prefer a more straightforward approach to math problems.

➡️Overall, these posters are an excellent resource for students of all ages and learning styles. Whether you are just starting to learn multiplication or looking for a refresher on different methods, this tool will help you approach 2-3 digit multiplication problems with confidence and clarity.

Recognize that in a multi-digit whole number, a digit in one place represents ten times what it represents in the place to its right. For example, recognize that 700 ÷ 70 = 10 by applying concepts of place value and division.
Multiply a whole number of up to four digits by a one-digit whole number, and multiply two two-digit numbers, using strategies based on place value and the properties of operations. Illustrate and explain the calculation by using equations, rectangular arrays, and/or area models.
Fluently multiply multi-digit whole numbers using the standard algorithm.
