Multiplication Strategy Practice

This set of task cards was designed to give students the opportunity to learn about and then practice a variety of multiplication strategies; repeat doubling, doubling and halving, split, compensation, and lattice. The task cards are color-coded to match a checklist to keep track of what strategies they have mastered.

You'll get:

  • A PDF containing posters of the above strategies modeled
  • Empty poster sheets for students to create their own definitions
  • A checklist of the strategies
  • 10 task cards per strategy (both equations and word problems)
  • Answer sheet with the process modeled

How to use:

  1. Use the posters to teach the strategies then allow students to write their own definitions on the empty poster cards provided
  2. Print the checklist (glue into workbook)
  3. Print the task cards
  4. Allow students time to work through the task cards in the order they like
