Description

Track multiplication fact fluency with this Google Sheets™ benchmark tool! Assess up to 30 students across six reporting periods with automaticity tracking, skill-based scoring, class graphs, and student summaries!

Struggling to keep track of multiplication fluency over time? This Google Sheets™ tool offers a comprehensive way to assess, track, and visualize student progress across all 91 multiplication facts—from 0x0 to 12x12.

Facts are arranged by skill:

  • Column 1: 0s and 1s
  • Column 2: 2s, 5s, and 10s
  • Column 3: 3s and 4s
  • Column 4: 6s, 7s, 8s, and 9s (11x11, 11x12, 12x12)

Each student probe has a matching assessor probe in Google Sheets™ with checkboxes to mark correct automatic and correct only responses. A built-in visual gauge displays how many facts are automatic!

Quickly interpret student progress and whole-class trends with built-in visuals and summaries:

  • Individual student graphs showing performance in individual skill areas as well as growth across all six reporting periods
  • Individual student summary showing percentage automatic, correct, overall, and missed facts
  • Whole-class graphs displaying automaticity by skill area and median/average growth across six reporting periods
  • Fact analysis chart showing most frequently missed facts by the class
  • Whole Class dashboard with class averages, medians, and percent correct by skill group

How It Works

  • Administer the probes each student (up to 6 times per year).
  • Check automatic responses (given within 2–3 seconds) by selecting the first box next to the fact.
  • Check correct but delayed responses by selecting the second box.
  • If the student answers incorrectly or doesn’t respond, leave both boxes unchecked.
  • Skill-level percentages (C/A%, C%, and Both%) are automatically calculated.
  • Charts and graphs update instantly to show growth across six reporting periods.
  • Non-automatic facts are compiled in the student summary chart for easy targeting.

Tips for Use:

  • To apply filters, select all of row 6 and click the filter button. This allows you to sort or filter specific scores while keeping data aligned with the correct student.
  • To print portions of the class or student data sheets, highlight the desired area, click Print, and choose "Selected cells" from the print options.
  • Easily share data with administrators or support staff by clicking "Share" and entering their email addresses.
  • The Facts – Not Automatic chart helps identify the most commonly missed or non-automatic facts across the class.
  • Use this chart to guide small group instruction, targeted review, or home practice.

Why Teachers Love It:

  • Makes data collection quick and consistent
  • Supports IEP progress monitoring, RTI/MTSS meetings, and parent-teacher conferences
  • Helps identify which facts are not automatic across the class
  • Ideal for designing targeted interventions, take-home practice, or small group instruction
  • Instantly filter and sort student data for efficient planning

This tool is intended for personal use. You may create as many copies of the workbook as you need to monitor the students in your class or on your caseload. This tool may not be used for commercial purposes.

Fluently multiply and divide within 100, using strategies such as the relationship between multiplication and division (e.g., knowing that 8 × 5 = 40, one knows 40 ÷ 5 = 8) or properties of operations. By the end of Grade 3, know from memory all products of two one-digit numbers.
