Description

This set of 24 task cards will help students calculate the multiplication of mixed numbers with whole numbers, fractions, and other mixed numbers.

Materials Included
- 24 Task Cards in color
- 24 Task Cards in blackline
- Answer Recording Sheet
- Answer Key

Addresses the standard:
5.NF.B.6 - Solve real world problems involving
multiplication of fractions and mixed numbers, e.g., by
using visual fraction models or equations to represent
the problem.

Setup
Task cards can be printed in a variety of ways
depending on your personal preferences and available
materials.
These cards look amazing in color, but also print well in
grayscale. For those who must conserve ink/toner (like
me), I have included a duplicate set with a blackline
border.
Cards hold up best if printed on card stock or
construction paper. Another option is to print them on
plain paper and glue or laminate them to a heavier
paper.

Teaching with Task Cards
Task cards are an awesome alternative to the classic
worksheet. Your students will think you are amazing for
giving them such fun activities to do.

Just a few of the many ways task cards can be used are:

Play a Game
Games such as Scoot, Boom, and Around the Room are
fun ways to use task cards with your students. You can
also use the cards to play any generic board game
where students must answer a question correctly to be
able to roll and move ahead.

Centers
Task cards make great centers activities and can be
self-checking if you provide access to the answer key.
Small Group or Partner Work
Task card sets can be given to small groups or pairs for
students to work on together, and compare answers, or
to help one another through the problems.

I used these task cards during an observation. They worked well. Some problems have large numbers; I made these challenge questions.
