Description
This set of task cards are designed to help students identify common mistakes when solving multiplication problems involving decimals.
Each task card has an equation that needs to be solved written at the top. Then, the equation is solved. The answer at the bottom of the card shows what the person thinks the answer.
However, each time a problem is solved, there is a mistake! Students need to find the mistake, explain what was done incorrectly, and then solve it themselves! This practice will help them identify their own mistakes as they go back and check their work.
On the answer key, the correct answer is on the top along with an explanation as to how the incorrect answer was calculated.
These task cards are sure to build critical thinking skills with your students and help them realize how easy it is to make a simple mistake (as well as the value of checking their work).
If you're looking for error analysis practice with multiplication or order of operations, check out these other sets of task cards: Error Analysis: Multiplication Edition, Error Analysis: Adding & Subtracting Decimals Edition and Error Analysis: Order of Operations.
