Description

Students multiply fractions using the area model, then hang their finished work in your classroom as colorful student-created classroom décor! Once a pennant is complete, it can be hung along a string in your classroom to show the world that, "Hey, we know how to multiply fractions!"

Included are 20 pennants with fraction multiplication problems, an optional student answer sheet and an answer key. Each group of students can be given a set of pennants, crayons, scissors and either glue, tape or a stapler. Students can be in charge of cutting out the pennants. Groups can compete to see which group can complete the most pennants or your entire class can add pennants to one string as they complete each one.

This multiplying fractions math pennant activity was a great resource for reinforcing skills in an engaging way. It worked especially well as a fun activity for early finishers or as a chapter wrap-up to review concepts students had already learned. Students enjoyed the creative aspect while still practicing important math skills, and it helped keep them focused and productive. It was easy to implement and added a nice change of pace from traditional practice activities.

My students loved this engaging resource. It helped them connect in classroom lessons to practice. They had no trouble getting started. It didn't take long to prepare this resource and is easy to use in a time crunch. I adapted it a little for my students with difficulty, but it was manageable overall. I will continue using this in the classroom.
