Description
This is a project-based assessment over multiplying polynomials (including monomials).
Students are given 4 scenarios that they must show how to multiply on a poster:
- multiplying a monomial by a monomial
- multiplying a monomial by a binomial or a trinomial
- multiplying a binomial by a binomial
- multiplying a binomial or a trinomial by a trinomial.
Extra credit is available for two of the scenarios.
Students create their own examples and demonstrate with explanation how to perform each multiplication on a poster. An example poster and specific directions for the student are included.
Two different sample posters are included to describe multiplying a binomial by a binomial - one uses the FOIL method and the other uses a Punnett Square to perform the multiplication.
A grading rubric, directions for the teacher, and a finished example are also included. (See preview) 5 pages.
Can be finished in one class period or completed outside of class for extra credit.
