Description

This MS PowerPoint presentation provides an easy-to-understand and classroom-tested solution technique for multiplying Rational Expressions. I use this presentation in my 10th and 11th grade Math 3 / Algebra 2 classes. The presentation is fully animated to keep the students engaged and focused. The slidepack begins with an overview of how to multiply numerical fractions to activate prior student knowledge followed by the detailed steps to multiply rational expressions. Four different problems are included to demonstrate the detailed step-by-step solution technique for multiplying rational expressions. A blank solution template is included for students to use to solve other problems assigned by their teacher. I always print out a copy of the slidepack for the students to take notes and write on while I am going through the presentation. Please note that the detailed solution summary is not shown on the main individual slides themselves (i.e., they are intentionally hidden) but it floats in from the side of the slide upon a click of the mouse. This strategy requires the student to attempt to solve the problem on their own prior to seeing the actual solution steps on his or her individual slide. Four (4) additional problems (with answers off to the side of the slide so they are initially hidden on the student copies) are also included on the last slide for the students to solve. The native MS PowerPoint ppt file is included to allow the teacher/end user to modify any of the slides if desired.
