Description
This is a unit designed around multiplying whole numbers which include handouts on :
1. Mental math
2. Distributive property
3. Estimating
4. Multiplying by 1-digit numbers
5. Multiplying by 2- digit numbers
6. Multiplication properties
7. 3 page Quiz *NEW*
Each handout is followed by the same worksheet with answers included.
My other unit in my TPT store has extra common core practice AND has these same 22 attached sheets. The longer unit has handouts in this unit which are aligned to the common core learning standards that students need continuous practice on. Many of these handouts include rounding, estimating, decimals, multiplication properties, and each one includes one word problem.
The common core learning standards addressed in this unit are:
5.NBT.2. Explain patterns in the number of zeros of the product when multiplying a number by powers of 10, and explain patterns in the placement of the decimal point when a decimal is multiplied or divided by a power of 10. Use whole number exponents to denote powers of 10. (Exponents WS, Mental Math WS)
5.NBT.5. Fluently multiply multi-digit whole numbers using the standard algorithm. (Estimating Products, Distributive Property WS, Multiplying by 1-digit number WS, Multiplying 2- digit numbers )
5.NBT.6. Find whole-number quotients of whole numbers with up to four-digit dividends and two-digit divisors, using strategies based on place value, the properties of operations, and/or the relationship between multiplication and division. Illustrate and explain the calculation by using equations, rectangular arrays, and/or area models. (Multiplication Properties WS)
5.OA.1. Use parentheses, brackets, or braces in numerical expressions, and evaluate expressions with these symbols. (Distributive Property)

This is great, thanks!
Thanks
Great!
Lots of helpful resources
great!!
This is well done! It was a little hard for my third graders at this time but I've had students who would be able to do this in the past.
