Description

This set contains task cards that can help students reviews how mutations form and different type of mutations including silent, missense, nonsense, and point/frameshift mutations.

This set is part of a money-saving year long bundle that can be found here.

There are 32 questions in each set, so you can pick and choose which questions you want your students to use. There are 8 simpler questions (I call them level 1), eight a little less simple questions (level 2), eight even more challenging questions (level 3), and four challenging questions (level 4). I have also included 4 “wacky” or brain-break type questions you can use to mix it up and add a little fun to your task card mix.

Each of my task card sets use a unique image to signify the set it comes from. Each card will have that image on it. Each question card and each answer card is numbered.

The border on these cards is what makes cards from Science with Mrs. Lau really unique! I have secretly placed 1 border line on level 1 questions, 2 border lines on level 2 questions, 3 border lines on level 3, etc, so that you as a teacher can quickly grab a simpler card or a more difficult card when you hand them out to your students, without announcing to students that they are being given a more difficult or a simpler card! This way, you can differentiate easily without trying to figure out on the spot if you’re giving a student an appropriate level question.

Here are a bunch of ways you can use task cards:

*You can use task cards in a group or individual setting and differentiate which questions students answer based on their understanding level.

*You can have students work on one task card at a time, helping students who need help focusing to focus on one task at a time instead of getting bogged down in a long worksheet.

* You can tape questions around the room and have students do a gallery walk around the room as they work.

*Any game you play with flash cards you can play with these!

In this Task Card Set:

1) Task Card Tips, Printing Tips, and Student Pages: I encourage students to copy the question that they are answering and then write the answer. It helps students to think about the question and use their sheet to study later!

2) A PDF with the question cards and answer cards on back: you can easily print these out to create cards with questions on one side and answers on the back.

3) A PDF with just the question cards.

With my Yr10 class, I allocated students cards based on their level of understanding. Each student was 5 different cards. With my Yr11 class, the cards were used as a pretest to see what they remembered.
