Description
My Math Thinking Mat is the perfect solution to allow students to use multiple strategies to show their thinking. Teachers can laminate these and use them with dry erase markers so they can use them again and again throughout the year! These strategies are on the board: 2 10's frames to work with 0-10 and then 0-20 in Kindergarten, 30 frame counters- so students can circle or fill in as they are counting to 30. They can also use this to fill in the "whole" and cross-out a part to find the other part of the equation. Students can use the Part-Part Whole, Number Bond, Fact Family Tree, and Number Line to solve addition and subtraction problems. There is also the Addition equation that has both ways to write the equation out- a + b = c or c = a + b. Making them think more on what those numbers mean rather than just seeing numbers and writing them down.
