Description
Many students with Autism benefit from visual learning when understanding the logic and reasoning behind the succession and completion of certain tasks/activities within their morning routine. These schedule cards are meant to serve as a mechanism for describing the necessary parts of a morning routine leading up to a day at school. Some children struggle to understand why they need to complete some morning tasks which can cause conflict and tension in family dynamics. The purpose of these schedule cards, and reviewing them as often as necessary with your child, is to provide them with some logic regarding the sequence of these activities in order to understand what has already occurred as well as what is coming next in this familiar routine. Additionally, it allows them to gradually complete these activities on their own to develop independence.
As every child's routine is different, feel free to use the cards that make the most sense for the individual child. Schedule cards included in this bundle for both boys and girls include:
- Waking up
- Making the bed
- Going to the bathroom
- Getting dressed
- Brushing hair
- Brushing teeth
- Eating breakfast
- Putting belongings in backpack
- Packing a lunch
- Putting on boots for inclement weather
- Putting on jacket
- Taking the bicycle/bus/car to school
- Walking to school
- Greeting a teacher
