In this activity, participants will create a picture of the sun which can then be examined with colored filters to simulate how specialized instruments enable scientists to capture images and view different features of the sun using a variety of wavelengths. During an EXTENSION experience, participants will use the solar picture to model the difference between a partial and total solar eclipse.
