This lesson is from my NC Math 2 Curriculum (in Unit # 5) but could be also used in Algebra 2.
This lesson includes the following concepts:
- Defining a radical (square root) function and showing how to evaluate this function so can use for graphing later in lesson.
- Defining and establishing the parent graph for a square root function which includes creating a table of values, description of shape of graph, starting point, domain & range, and asking where on graph there are no x-values and why.
- Defining the general form of square root function and the various transformations which also includes finding the function's algebraic domain.
- There is one set of examples with 4 problems where must determine transformations, starting point, and domain & range...will need to make table of values and graph on coordinate plane.
- There is one set of examples with 2 problems where students will work backwards where given graph of square root function and must write a square function in its general form by finding "a" value using a point from graph and its starting point.
This product will be downloaded as a ZIP file which includes:
- Blank PDF copy which contains 2 pages
