Description

Stop guessing what your students need to grow their NWEA MAP Reading scores.

This comprehensive set of 128 Task Cards is rigorously aligned to the NWEA MAP Growth Learning Continuum, covering 8 RIT Bands (141–220). Designed for true differentiation, these cards allow you to meet every student exactly where they are—from Kindergarten foundational skills to 5th+ grade complex analysis.

Whether you are doing small group intervention, station work, or whole-class review, these cards bridge the gap between testing data and daily instruction.

Additionally, the cards support short constructed response growth by offering restate, answer, and prove directions on the answer sheets!

What’s Included?

  • 128 Total Task Cards covering 8 distinct RIT Bands:
    • 141–150
    • 151–160
    • 161–170
    • 171–180
    • 181–190
    • 191–200
    • 201–210
    • 211–220

  • 4 Targeted Areas per RIT Band:
  1. Vocabulary: Context clues, affixes, roots, and synonyms.
  2. Comprehension: Inference, main idea, cause & effect, and summary.
  3. Author’s Purpose & Craft: Text structures, perspective, and literary devices.
  4. Multiple Genres: Fiction, Non-Fiction, Poetry, and Argumentative texts.

  • Student Answer Sheets: Designed to support Short Constructed Response (SCR) growth. Students circle the answer and practice "Restate, Answer, Prove" with text evidence.

Designed for Independence & Accessibility

These cards are built to be self-sustained, meaning every question includes a short passage or image. No extra books needed!

Two Formats Included:

  1. Color-Coded Version: Each strand (Vocab, Comp, etc.) is color-coded. This allows struggling readers or visual learners to easily identify which cards match their personal NWEA goals without needing to read the headers.
  2. Blackline Version: Ink-saving design that uses a Dot System for easy recognition for students and sorting and organization for you.

Make it Read-Aloud Ready! Turn these cards into a fully independent station using iPads or tablets.

  • Teacher Tip Included: A simple guide is provided to help you set up Spoken Content on iPads (Settings > Accessibility > Spoken Content).
  • Student Workflow: Teach students to simply highlight the text on their screen (via camera or photo) and select "Speak." The device reads the passage and question to them—perfect for lower RIT bands or accommodations!

Ways to Use This Resource:

  • Data-Driven Small Groups: Group students by their RIT score and hand them the exact band they need to work on.
  • Goal-Setting Stations: Have students check their MAP profile and select the color card that matches their lowest instructional area.
  • Intervention & Spiraling: Use lower bands to fill gaps for older struggling readers, or use higher bands to extend for advanced learners.
  • Test Prep: Familiarize students with the language and logic of standardized test questions (distractors, multi-step thinking, etc.).

Equip your students with the specific practice they need to climb the RIT ladder!
