"This sign in system is amazing! Having the different daily icon to silently tell students which one to sign in on saves me so much time! Also I am able to edit each one to scaffold how much help students need to transition to writing their name independently."

Description

Let’s face it - students in preschool and kindergarten need to practice writing their names...a lot!  This daily sign in system will help your students learn to write their names and get the hang of using placement lines for all of the other handwriting they will do.

NOTE: This is an editable PDF file. In order for it to work properly, you must have Adobe Acrobat 9.0 or higher installed on your computer (it's free), and you must open the file using Adobe (not as a preview or in a web viewer).

With 8 styles to choose from, you're sure to meet the needs of all the students in your classroom. And you can enter up to 30 names for each style! Here are your options:

  • Tracing with no lines - large or small print
  • Tracing with traditional placement lines - large or small print
  • Tracing with 2 placement lines (Handwriting Without Tears style) - large or small print
  • Trace it & write it with traditional placement lines
  • Trace it & write it with 2 placement lines

You can also print any of these options without the tracing print so students can practice independently!

Simply print and laminate the "Today Is" sign and hang it where students can easily see it. Picture clues for each day are provided on both the sign and the student pages so they always know where to write their names.

This system can also be used for attendance! Train your students to put their papers in a designated place as soon as they're finished and you can quickly tell who is absent - just scan the room to see whose sign in sheet is still sitting at their table.

Also available in booklet form!

We used the Name Practice Daily Sign-In System as part of our morning routine, and it quickly became a meaningful way to start each day with our Pre-K students! The colorful, cheerful design made it exciting for them to participate, and the repeated name writing helped build confidence, letter recognition, and fine motor skills.

This Name Practice: Daily Sign In resource was exactly what I was looking for to use with my kindergarten students! I love many of the features it has, including the 8 different formats to allow for differentiation, cute clip to indicate each day of the week (love the alliteration!), and easy editing so you can use students' first and last names. Thank you for creating such a great resource! :)
