7 to 8-day COMPLETE unit to accomplish two goals-- teach Native American origin myths and establish a positive classroom culture.

What’s Included:

1. Native American Origin Creation Myths: How to Create Positive Classroom Culture: Instructional PPT Presentation (16 slides) with very clear teacher notes lay the foundation. Students watch and evaluate a popular tv ad and collaborate to discover characteristics of American culture. Students learn how to use the graphic organizers used in this bundle. Students are prepared to easily transfer the skills learned in this lesson to study Native American origin myths. Plus, students develop a sense of accomplishment, confidence and interest in the subject matter as they begin the unit. Keys included.

2. “Earth on Turtle’s Back” & “When Grizzlies Walked Upright” Creation Origin Myths

Mini Bundle: Students collaborate to successfully complete 5 graphic organizers and discover for themselves the characteristics of the Onondaga and Modoc cultures. Fun assessment offers 5 options. (Recommendation: Assign Summative AFTER you cover the “Navajo Origin Myth,” which is included in bundle. Includes suggested differentiated essay topics to extend the unit). The resource is aligned with “EoTB” as retold by Michael Caduto & Joseph Bruchac; “WGWU” as retold by Richard Erdoes & Alfonso Ortiz

3. “Navajo Origin Myth” & Establish Positive Classroom Culture. Creation Myth: Guided reading questions and graphic organizers (with keys) are designed to help students notice repetition and patterns, and from there, cite textual support to make inferences about the Navajo culture. Includes Paragraph Assignment & Rubric, Optional Differentiated Essay Questions with link to a common standardized essay rubric. The resource is aligned with the myth as retold by Washington Matthews

4. Added 8/7/19: Directions on how to progress through the Bundle. The directions are found in the “Bonus File.”

5. Includes TWO versions of the resource to be flexible & save time:

• PDF

• Forced-copy link for Google Drive (Slides) (works with any Google-Apps compatible LMS (learning management system) such as Google Classroom™

6. Each product above includes:
