Description

New Year's Math Goofy Glyph for algebra is an activity students can use to hone their abilities in algebra while putting together a fun art project that you can showcase on your classroom wall. Whether your students answer the questions right or wrong will dictate the way their glyphs look in this potentially silly activity. They will end up with a New Year's baby girl, boy, or a prehistoric baby! The math problems are designed for children studying algebra and are aligned with the Common Core State Standards for Algebra 1. This is a great way to ring in the new year!

Math skills covered:

  • Perform arithmetic operations on polynomials
  • Use polynomial identities and rewrite expressions
  • Choose and rewrite expressions
  • Solve linear equations and inequalities

At the back of this booklet are templates that your students can use to help design their glyphs; otherwise, they can choose to create their own artwork.

Also at the back of this book is a graph that you can use to demonstrate how the students in your class answered different questions from the glyph.

This is a very detailed glyph. Make sure to check out the preview to see if it is good match for your class.

Check out my Math Goofy Glyph Bundle for Algebra Common Core which includes this goofy glyph and 14 other goofy glyphs and comes with a discount.

All artwork is original and created by myself.

Choose and produce an equivalent form of an expression to reveal and explain properties of the quantity represented by the expression.
Understand that polynomials form a system analogous to the integers, namely, they are closed under the operations of addition, subtraction, and multiplication; add, subtract, and multiply polynomials.
